IITR Alumni Association congratulates its alma mater on completing a 175-year-old legacy on November 25, 2022.
On one side, the coin has the James Thomason Building engraved on it with “Bharatiya Praudyogikee Sansthaan” written in Devanagari on the upper periphery and its English translation “Indian Institute of Technology” written on the lower periphery. The other side of the coin has India’s national emblem in the middle and ₹ 175 written on the lower periphery.
The Institute commemorated the occasion by showcasing the renowned history of IIT Roorkee and by publishing a commemorative stamp, coin, and coffee table book.
The Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla, attended the event as the Chief Guest. Vineet Pandey, Secretary, Department of Post, GoI, also attended the Foundation Day celebration as the Guest of Honor.
The event started with the Flag hoisting and a speech on the historical aspects of the foundation day by Prof. B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, chairman of the board of governors at IIT Roorkee, and Prof. K.K. Pant, director of IIT Roorkee, followed by the release of stamps and coins.
Since last year, the Institute has been commemorating its 175th Foundation Day. IITR Alumni Association hosted numerous events on the academic, international relations, sports, research, alums, and student outreach fronts as a part of the year-long celebration.
